Vanner: Providing Power Solutions for Over 30 Years

As defined in our purpose statement, Vanner is in the business of using our technology to help our partners transform their markets and give them a market differentiation. This has been the core of Vanner’s philosophy from the beginning.

Vanner began business in 1977. Vanner started by working with a local Ambulance OEM to develop a more reliable flasher for the lights on an ambulance. Through our close relationship with the ambulance OEMs, Vanner soon developed the first inverter for an ambulance. This transformed the ambulance from a transportation device to a life saving device.

Vanner used this same practice when it expanded into the Transit Bus and Coach market. We partnered with a local Bus OEM who wanted to utilize multiple DC voltages to take advantage of the less expensive 24v wiring while still being able to run the established 12v loads. Vanner developed the Battery Equalizer that provided the bus OEM with managed dual DC voltages and assuring the batteries remain balanced.

Vanner acquired a competitor in the middle 1990s and established itself in the work truck market. Vanner soon became the market leader in battery based inverters that were 2500 watts and higher. Vanner also established itself as the market leader in alternator based inverters.

In 2003, Vanner partnered with the market leading Work Truck OEM and the State of Ohio and developed an alternator-based inverter for the work truck. For the first time, AC power was a factory option from a major truck manufacturer. Additionally, Vanner had an engineering break through that allowed for an alternator-based inverter to achieve its maximum output at idle. This meant that the truck no longer had to be stationary for the inverter to operate. Vanner has received 3 patents on this technology and 5 more patents are pending.
